A PLACE in the Sun host Jean Johansson clapped back at guests after they critiqued a property choice she had “worked hard” to find.
The TV host was joined by couple Kamlesh and Sukhwinder in the Alicante region of Spain as they looked for a home to meet their lengthy criteria.
During the repeat episode aired on Thursday, Jean, 39, was certain she would get a sale from the couple after working tireless to match what they were looking for to a home.
The couple were after a winter home to escape the cold British weather for some sunshine in Spain, with two bedrooms and a swimming pool.
Kamlesh and Sukhwinder were also keen to find somewhere with plenty of space for their grandchildren to play in, as well as being walking distance from local amenities and the beach.
With a modest budget of £95,000, Jean got to work at showing off five impressive properties – but the couple were tricky to please.
Property number one was on the market for £89,000 – and had two bedrooms, two small gardens and a walk from the beach.
The interior was modern and bright, but unfortunately a little small to the tastes of the couple, who complained about the quaint kitchen.
For the second viewing, Jean opted for a property with a larger kitchen space, but it was on the market just over budget at £102,500.
The first-floor apartment had a balcony as well as a sprawling communal garden, a large kitchen and open plan living and dining room.
There was a master bedroom with en suite, plus a second bedroom and a bathroom – with the couple getting “good vibes”, but still not blown away.
Jean then proceeded to take the couple to a third home, a townhouse set across two floors with more than enough space for the family.
The asking price was a modest £98,000, but the more traditional decor put the couple off straight away and they headed to the fourth property.
Jean was hoping this would be the star of the show, which was closer to the airport and had good transport links, as well as plenty of space.
“It looks nice, it looks old and traditional – but I think it’s tight,” the couple described the space, adding they felt it was closed in.
Hitting back at the criticism, Jean sternly replied: “I worked hard to find this one and it does offer a lot for you and your family.”
“Also, you’re on the bus route here to Alicante airport so there are good transport links,” she continued as Kamlesh and Sukhwinder looked bewildered.
She told the cameras after the couple had walked away: “I’ve managed to deliver on most of the criteria but I just don’t think they’re feeling it.”
Jean tried to claw things back with the fifth and final property, and the couple were at last amazed by the home with a roof terrace and sea views.
The property had a kitchen, utility room, a master bedroom with an en suite shower room, as well as two more bedrooms and a bathroom.
All located within walking distance to the beach, the pair had a positive reaction but still were unsure if they wanted to buy it.
