Arsenal 'plan £100m transfer spree on three targets but must sell players first'

Arsenal are reportedly set to launch a £100million summer spending spree to sign Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes and Dani Ceballos.

But the Gunners, who this week announced plans to make 55 staff redundant, will have to sell players in order to fund the recruitment drive.

Mikel Arteta needs to improve his squad this summer after Arsenal missed out on a Champions League place for next season by a worrying 11 points.

The manager is believed to want Ceballos to stay, with the out-of-favour Real Madrid man having impressed on loan at the Emirates since football’s restart.

And Arteta has also targeted Atletico Madrid midfielder Partey and Lille centre-half Gabriel as he looks to strengthen the spine of his team, according to The Sun.

Atletico Madrid will want £45m for Arsenal midfield target Thomas Partey

But the publication says the likes of Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Matteo Guendouzi and Shkodran Mustafi must all be sold to raise the £100m needed to secure the list of summer targets.

Atletico are expected to insist that the Gunners pay the full £45m release clause to secure Partey’s services, while Gabriel is likely to cost around £25m, and Real want around £30m for Ceballos.

Arteta guided his side to an FA Cup triumph in his first season as a manager, ensuring his side will compete in the Europa League next season.

The Gunners missed out on qualification for Europe through the Premier League, finishing eighth, and Arteta knows he must get rid of those who are surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

Guendouzi has fallen out of favour after his clash with Brighton players in June, and has been linked with Barcelona with Arsenal wanting around £35m for the midfielder.

Maitland-Niles has been told he can leave for £25m, with Everton, Spurs and Brighton all interested in the right-back.

Torreira has attracted interest from Serie A sides AC Milan, Fiorentina and Torino, and has hinted he may be ready to move on, with the Gunners hopeful of recouping the £22m they paid Sampdoria for the midfielder two years ago.

Mustafi, Sokratis and Mohamed Elneny could also be on their way out, as well as Henrikh Mkhitaryan who spent the season on loan at Roma.
