Camping, caravan and holiday park holidays: Britain’s top brands revealed as bookings soar

0

Camping, caravan park and holiday park holidays will be enjoying a renaissance this summer. Many Britons are returning to the traditional British staycation amid the uncertainty of foreign travel due to coronavirus. According to research by campsite booking site Pitchup, one camping staycation was booked every three seconds during a peak last week.

Affordable seaside resort Butlins topped the list with 186 percent more searches during lockdown.

Interestingly, holiday seekers in Portsmouth were revealed to have the most searches for the holiday brand.

Also in the top 10 were holiday park brands Hoseasons, Haven and Center Parcs.

Hoseasons, in third place, had 173 percent more searches, most of which came from Sheffield.

DON’T MISS

Haven came in at seventh place, with searches up by 105 percent.

Centre Parks searches were up by 100 percent with folk from Norwich showing the greatest interest, putting the holiday park brand in eighth place.

Of the 39 travel brands in the report, 18 percent were staycation-friendly.

What’s more, the seven staycation brands saw an average 101 percent increase in searches compared to overseas (23 percent) and cruise/ferry brands (20 percent).

The Caravan and Motorhome Club, P&O Ferries and Brittany Ferries were all in the top 10 most searched for holiday brands as people looked for alternatives to flying.

That said, not all Britons are content to stay in the UK.

Budget airline brand Jet2Holidays had 178 percent more searches during lockdown as holidaymakers started looking for post-lockdown deals and dreaming of their next European break.

Affordability is still clearly a priority for many, though.

Just two luxury brands made the top 10, James Villa Holidays (98 percent) and Sandals Resorts (92 percent), with the most searches in Manchester and Peterborough.
