Carol Kirkwood: How BBC Breakfast star was humiliated amid 'snail' jibe from co-star

The 59-year-old is one of the nation’s most loved weather presenters, and is renowned for her charming chemistry colleagues such as Louise Minchin and Dan Walker. But in one encounter, she was left hanging out to dry after Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty poked fun at the Scottish star, who was presenting a segment of the weather from Greenwich in 2018. From the BBC studio, Charlie said: “Now don’t say we don’t bring you exciting images here on BBC Breakfast.

“We’re going to see a snail on a piece of wood.”

Laughing, Naga responded: “That’s no way to talk about Carol!”

Carol, who gasped after Naga’s retort, responded: “How very dare you.”

But it wasn’t over for Carol as the star managed to take a swipe at someone by claiming she knew people with “no backbone”.

She said: “[Mission: Invertebrate] is going to visit different locations over the summer and invertebrates of course are vertebrates with no backbones.

“I know a few of them myself!”

Viewers were left gobsmacked at Carol’s revelation and naturally took to Twitter to ask who the mystery people she was rereferring to was.

One wrote: “#bbcbreakfast so did Carol just comment on someone she knows with no backbone?! #harsh on national TV! Lol.”

A second added: “Who was she getting at? #bbcbreakfast.”

“Kirkwood just threw serious shade on #bbcbreakfast.”
