Coronation Street airs devastating scenes next week, as Sinead Tinker is told her cancer treatment is no longer working following her recent diagnosis.
Sinead learned after her wedding day to Daniel Osbourne that her cancer had returned, having discovered a lump on her neck, and she was told by a doctor her illness was now terminal.
She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018 but she learned earlier this month that it had returned, and spread to her lymph nodes and her liver.
With Sinead being given just months to live, she and Daniel struggled to cope – but next week there is more devastating news that leaves them in shock.
After undergoing chemotherapy, Sinead meets with an oncologist in scenes to air next week where she learns the cancer isn’t responding to the treatment.
She’s then told the heartbreaking news that the time she has left is even less than she thought, and that she only has a few weeks left to live.
The couple are in complete shock, but Sinead insists they attend Daniel’s dad Ken’s birthday party as they vow to savour every day they have left.
Daniel then tells his wife how he’s planned a surprise birthday party for their baby son Bertie, with the help of her aunt Beth.
As the parties get underway, Sinead breaks down as she shares the news with her loved ones that she hasn’t got long left.
Feeling guilty about the party, Sinead is reassured when Ken insists his only concern is for her and his son.
As the family try to deal with the news, the couple head off for some time alone – while Ken decides to break the news to those in the pub.
While alone, Sinead tells Daniel she’s sorry she has to leave him and Bertie but that she knows her son is in safe hands.
Daniel breaks down in his partner’s arms as the enormity of their situation hits him.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
