“Let’s keep it in perspective,” said Dr Hilary, who highlighted how a Covid infection causes “far more cases of blood clots”.
In addition, “being overweight”, or “pregnant”, or those who “fly a lot” have a greater risk of blood clots than somebody who takes the Johnson & Johnson jab.

- Long-haul flying
- Having surgery
- The combined pill (contraception)
“The risk is tiny and the benefits of vaccination are huge,” emphasised Dr Hilary.
