Emmy winner Jason Bateman looked gutted after being unexpectedly mocked at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards .
Popular talk show hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel were cracking some gags on stage and took aim at the Hollywood star.
The Ozark actor was the victim of one hilarious gag, but it did not go down well if his strange reaction was anything to go by.
Poking fun at Jason, Kimmell said: “Who would sit behind a desk and pretend to be interested in Jason Bateman’s vacation stories?”
The audience burst out laughing – and even Jason seemed to enjoy the joke as he was smiling when the camera panned round.
Suddenly, the smile was wiped off Jason’s face and he started to grimace while staring straight forward.
While his wife beside him continued to laugh, Jason looked like a lost puppy and glanced to the side for support.
Was it a clever joke? Or was he really crestfallen?
Emmys viewers took to Twitter after watching the hilarious moment.
One viewer said: “Jason Bateman’s face when Stephen Colbert made fun of his vacation stories is going to give me nightmares tonight”
“Jason Bateman though is so meme-worthy,” added another.
A third said: “Jason Bateman’s face when they roasted him for telling vacation stories HAHA
“This Jason Bateman slow burn reaction shot almost makes having no host worth it. Almost,” said a fourth.
It was actually a very good night for Jason as he scooped the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series award.
The actor turned Director won the award for episode Reparations – and was very humble on stage.
“Wow. Erm…wow. That is something,” said Jason as he accepted the gong.
Jason was joined on the purple carpet by his wife, US actress Amanda Anka, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles
The actor also got a mention from his Ozark co-star Julie Garner during her acceptance speech.
“You’ve been a guiding light throughout,” said Julie as she picked up the Outstanding Supporting Actress award.
