Is Frasier coming back?

The good news is yes, Frasier is indeed coming back more than 20 years after closing the curtains.

Frasier originally ran from 1993 to 2004 and was a spin-off from successful comedy Cheers.

The reboot should come as no surprising considering lead star Kelsey Grammar, who played the eponymous psychiatrist, has been working on a return with his production company for several years now.

His film and TV company Grammnet Productions is reported to have been in talks to get the show off the ground with Grammer previously saying he hoped Frasier would return.

Who will be in the cast of the Frasier revival?

Grammer is going to be reprising his iconic role as the Seattle talkshow host with the actor, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world.

“I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”

Cast details have not been confirmed as yet but David Hyde Pierce is like to be back as brother Niles Crane.

British actress Janes Leeves could be reprising her role as Daphne Moon.

Peri Gilpin may also be returning as Frasier’s radio producer Roz Doyle.

Sadly, John Mahoney died in 2018 and so there will be an empty chair where Crane patriarch Martin once sat.

What will happen in the Frasier revival?

There’s no word on the plot of the Frasier revival just yet but details are likely to be announced as the project goes on and possibly closer to the release.

CBS executive David Stapf said: “Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,

“There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey.”

He added: “We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount+.”
