Katie Price defends jetting to red-list Turkey for liposuction – insisting it’s ‘an essential work trip’

KATIE Price has defended jetting to red-list Turkey for liposuction, insisting that it’s a “work trip”.

Earlier today, The Sun revealed that the 42-year-old star is going under the knife at the same clinic where a mum-of-three tragically died following a lipo op.

Katie is having the same surgery after gaining two stone over the past year, and will be filming the procedure for a reality show.

She has splashed out on a £12,000 package deal with Mono Cosmetic Surgery, which is in Turkey – with the country currently on the government’s red list.

This means that UK officials have ruled that Turkey has the highest risk of spreading coronavirus, and should only be visited in “extreme circumstances”.

Anybody returning to Britain from a red-list country needs to quarantine in a hotel, at their own expense, for 10 days.

Katie says she has gained two stone in the past year – and is in ‘physical pain’ as a result[/caption]

Katie jetted out with fiance Carl Woods yesterday, with the procedure counting as an “extreme circumstance” as it’s a “work trip” – and will help her with the “physical pain” her current weight has left her in.

A rep for the star shared: “Katie has travelled with her fiancé to undergo a surgical procedure.

“The purpose of this travel is essential in that it is for her work, she is being filmed undergoing the operation.”

They went on to tell MailOnline that Katie’s life-changing injuries after breaking both of her feet on holiday in Turkey last year has made it difficult to shift the extra weight.

They added: “Despite her efforts to lose weight she has gained over two stone – this in turn has put immense pressure and further strain on her feet and is directly affecting her walking and management of day to day as a mother of five without being in constant pain.

“Katie accepts she is in a fortunate position to be able to undergo this procedure and would like to reassure in doing so is part of her ‘work’, in sharing her journey as she endures further emotional, mental struggles and challenges.”

Both Katie and Carl, and their camera crew, will pay £1,750 per person for the mandatory quarantine hotel upon their return.

The Sun revealed that Katie will be getting full body liposuction, a brow and face lift AND new teeth – which will set her back over £12k.

She chose Mono Cosmetic Surgery to undergo her latest round of surgery just months after the news of a 38-year-old social worker’s death after buying their £5k package deal.

Abimbola Ajoke Bamgbose tragically died last August after lipo at the same clinic[/caption]

Abimbola Ajoke Bamgbose died in August of last year, and her husband Moyosore Olowo has since told an inquest that she underwent liposuction and a butt lift because she was fed up with people asking if she was pregnant.

The inquest heard that a post-mortem examination found that Mrs Bamgbose suffered perforations to the bowel.

Her cause of death was given as peritonitis – inflammation of the inner abdominal wall – with multiple organ failure as a complication of liposuction surgery.

The hearing was told that such perforations were a rare complication in the UK, with about three to five cases in the past decade, but that it might be more common abroad.
