Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp faces a tricky transfer window this summer after his side’s Premier League dominance was rewarded with a 19th top-flight crown.
After the Reds’ relentless rampage to the title, Klopp’s squad needs few improvements – and any transfer targets will be wondering whether they can actually earn a place in the team.
But at the same time, the manager must ensure his side stays ahead of their rivals – and he will want to do much better in Europe after Liverpool’s Champions League defence was ended at the last-16 stage.
All of this is further complicated by the fact that Klopp has publicly acknowledged he won’t be able to spend big this summer – seemingly ruling out moves for the likes of Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz after the Reds already missed out on Timo Werner.
Here is the latest transfer news surrounding Liverpool.
Thiago blow as PSG set to match Bayern valuation
Liverpool have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of star Thiago Alcantara, with Paris-Saint Germain ready to match Bayern Munich’s valuation.
The midfielder has been widely tipped for a switch to Anfield this summer, with reports having suggested personal terms had already been agreed.
The Reds have reportedly been hoping to talk Bayern from their £27million price tag – but now it seems they have competition for Thiago’s signature from mega-rich PSG.
According to Le10Sport, the Ligue 1 champions are preparing a £27m bid – which would match Bayern’s valuation and leave Liverpool pondering their next move.
Reds seal signing of winger Musialowski
Liverpool have completed the signing of Polish teenager Mateusz Musialowski.
The 16-year-old winger, considered a top prospect after being tracked by talent-spotters from a number of top clubs, posted a picture on his Instagram page at Liverpool ’s Kirkby Academy training base.
He has already added Liverpool Football Club to his biography and the Liverpool Echo claims the Reds agreed a deal to sign him from Polish side SMS Lodz several months ago.
He has now arrived as planned after putting pen to paper on scholarship terms to start off with Liverpool’s Under-18s before he will become eligible for a professional contract when he turns 18.
Leeds reluctant to meet Reds’ Larouci price tag
Leeds United are reportedly reluctant to meet Liverpool’s price tag as they target Reds’ under-23 defender Yasser Larouci.
Left-back Larouci has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer as he searches for more game time.
Newly-promoted Leeds and Championship play-off finalists Brentford are two teams credited with an interest in the 19-year-old.
However, Leeds are unwilling to match Liverpool’s valuation for Larouci – meaning they are in danger of missing out on the French-Algerian prospect.
