Lord Sugar defends Boris Johnson over furious Jo Cox row – and says ‘insane ranting’ Labour MP is one who should apologise

LORD SUGAR today branded Labour MPs “ranting women” and “insane” for slamming Boris Johnson in a row over Jo Cox.

The peer insisted the PM’s critics should apologise over furious Commons’ exchanges on Wednesday.

Mr Johnson sparked outrage in the chamber after he was asked to temper his language by Labour MP Paula Sheriff.

He was slammed by furious MPs after claiming the best way to honour Mrs Cox, who was murdered just before the 2016 referendum, was to “get Brexit done”.

The PM dismissed criticism of his language as “humbug”.

But in a tweet that misspelt Mrs Cox‘s first name and the word “particular”, Lord Sugar leapt to the PM’s defence.

Lord Sugar tweeted: “I am not getting the reason for demanding Boris to apologise.

“It was the ranting women who first brought Joe Cox name up in the chamber.”

He added: “The woman in particiluar ranted like an insane person. If anyone should apologise it should be her.

“She was addressing the PM of the UK.”

Wednesday’s emotional clash in the Commons came after the PM was repeatedly challenged over his use of the word “surrender” to describe the bill passed by MPs to block Brexit earlier this month.

Ms Sheriff, MP for Dewsbury, fumed that Mr Johnson “continually used pejorative language to describe an Act of Parliament passed by this House”.

Mrs Cox’s widower, Brendan Cox, said he felt “a bit sick” at the way her name was being used and appealed for both sides to calm down.

The row has raged on all week, with Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan told to “go f*** yourself” by Labour MP Neil Coyle.

The GMB host had blasted MPs for using Mrs Cox’s name in Commons’ clashes.

Mr Johnson has admitted “tempers need to come down”.

Some of Lord Sugar’s followers disagreed with his defence of the under-fire PM.

One tweeted: “I’d be pretty angry too if my mate had been murdered and I was receiving death threats because of dangerous right wing rhetoric.”

Another said: “The PM lied to the queen and unlawfully suspended parliament he doesn’t deserve any respect.”
