MANCHESTER UNITED target Moussa Dembele reportedly wants to quit Lyon and return to England.
The 23-year-old striker, valued at £40m, has a number of admirers across the continent following his scoring exploits for the French club and Celtic.
Now Football Insider claims a source has told them he “regards a transfer to an elite Premier League club as the logical next step” in his career.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lost Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the summer window and failed to replace either.
That has left his attack severely blunted, and he has made a new forward his top priority in January.
A move for Juventus veteran Mario Mandzukic appears to be near completion, with the 33-year-old’s representatives already holding talks to thrash out a deal.
Now United could also be plotting a swoop for the ex-France U21 hotshot to bolster their goal-shy forward line.
However, Everton have also been keeping tabs on Dembele.
And they may also be plotting a move to rival the Red Devils for the hitman.

Dembele burst onto the scene at Fulham as a teenager before heading to Scotland in 2016.
He bagged 51 times in 94 games at Parkhead until he joined Lyon for £19m in 2018.
The star scored 20 times during his first full campaign in Ligue 1 and has found the net on six occasions this season.
But he remains under contract until 2023 and Lyon are determined to drive a hard bargain and collect the biggest fee possible for Dembele.
