DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS told by my colleague I am uncultured, small-minded and trashy because I haven’t travelled widely. I couldn’t believe what she was saying.
I explained to her that I haven’t travelled because my parents didn’t have the money to take me anywhere when I was younger – and that I’ve not yet had the opportunity to do so, though I’m now 22.
I grew up on the North East coast, so we always had beaches and the countryside on our doorstep.

She is from a big city in the South and clearly thinks she is more sophisticated than me.
When I spoke to my manager about it, he said it was “just her way”. I hate confrontation, so I left it.
But the fact she is getting away with treating me like this is disgusting. She’s 38.
