Royal silence ENDED: Prince Harry and Prince William speak on phone ahead of tense reunion

The two brothers, whose rift has been well documented in recent months, are understood to have put their differences aside and chatted on the phone after the sad news of Prince Philip’s death came on Friday. The phone call came shortly after Harry landed in the UK on Sunday afternoon, according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph said the royal siblings chatted on the phone on Sunday, after the Duke of Sussex arrived at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, to quarantine.

William and Harry are expected to put their differences aside for the sake of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family, as the reunite for the first time in over a year.

One royal source told the newspaper: “They know it is not about them on Saturday – it is about honouring their grandfather’s memory and supporting their grandmother.

“I would be extremely surprised if that wasn’t front and centre of both their minds.

“They will be keen to spend time together as a family, in the same time zone for once.”

Another well-placed insider said: “The entire focus is on the Queen. No exceptions. A family unified.”

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, is expected to act as peacemaker between the royal brothers and ensure nothing boils over on Saturday.

An insider said the royal, who was once very close with Harry, “will be hoping to sooth tensions” at the sombre event.

Harry and William’s highly-anticipated reunion will come on Saturday, as the Royal Family attend the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, which will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The funeral will take place at 3pm, and will be televised for the public to watch.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, only 30 guests will be allowed to attend in person.

The two brothers last met face-to-face in March 2020, to attend the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey – which marked the Sussexes’ last royal engagement before stepping down.
