Mohamed Salah has paid an emotional tribute to his best friend Dejan Lovren after he completed a transfer to Zenit St. Petersburg.
Lovren has joined the Russian giants in an £11million transfer from Liverpool, just weeks after the club won a very first Premier League title.
Salah said: “I don’t know how to say, my friend. I don’t know my feeling right now, but we are going to miss you. Especially me.
“You have been an unbelievable player and great friend to me. We are going to miss you a lot. I miss you a lot. I love you so much, and you have been fantastic on and off the pitch.
“Thank you for everything you have done for the club, and everything you did for me.
“I wish you all the best for the future and wish you have a great career as well and enjoy the new club with your family. Thank you very much and see you soon.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also paid tribute to the centre-back.
He said: “Another Liverpool legend has left the club, because he was absolutely a very important part of this team.
“From the first day, I remember when we played with Dortmund against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly and Dejan scored with a header with incredible power.
“That was the image in my mind when I came here and thought about the defenders we had.
“He played super games and scored one of the most important goals of our history, in the 4-3 against Borussia Dortmund.
“A really wonderful moment to share and so many good games, and when he was fit he was very often in the team.
“A great player, great person. He speaks five languages as well.
“Yesterday we said ‘Who is now the best friend of Mo? Because they are real besties. We will miss him, he’s a model athlete. He has everything you need. But now he goes to Russia.”
