The 37-year-old Olympic boxer was one of the first to be announced to take part in this year’s socially-distanced show.
Following news that she would be making history as the first same-sex contestant to take to the dance floor, she addressed the exciting opportunity while appearing on BBC Breakfast.
“I think it’s really important, it’s definitely time for change,” she said.
“It’s definitely time to move on and be more diverse, and this is a brilliant step in the right direction.”
Most were delighted with the decision, eagerly awaiting to find out who she will be taking to the floor with.
