Paul Gascoigne baby joy as England legend to become a grandad for the first time

Paul Gascoigne is ‘over the moon’ after finding out he is going to be a grandad for the first time.

The England legend’s stepson Mason is having a baby with his partner Jaimee Wyatt.

Gazza’s baby joy emerged after his stepdaughter Bianca Gascoigne let slip on her Instagram page.

Posting a picture of herself and her brother on a night out, the 33-year-old wrote: “I’m going to be an auntie! My brother Mase is having a baby!”

Ms Wyatt confirmed the news, writing on Instagram: “Couldn’t be any more happier. We are having a healthy beautiful baby.”

Paul Gascoigne, 53, is to become a grandad

Gascoigne was in need of a boost after burglars stole £140,000 of jewellery from his home recently – including treasured items belonging to his late dad.

And a source close to the former Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle and Lazio star said it was just the pick-me-up he needed.

“Gazza is over the moon,” the source told The Sun. “It’s just the bit of good news he needs. He can’t wait to be a grandad.”

Gascoigne, 53, captured the affections of a nation when he cried during the 1990 World Cup when a yellow card meant he would miss England’s final game.

Earlier this month he made a tearful plea to the burglars who raided his home, saying: “It’s sad because I have so many memories attached to the items.

“My dad’s belongings meant so much to me, I’d really like them back.”

The raiders’ haul included a £2,000 gold cigar cutter and watch both owned by his father John who died aged 72 from cancer two years ago.

Gascoigne claims the thieves struck after Piers Morgan posted a picture of him on Twitter sitting in the ITV Life Stories audience on the night of the burglary.

He said: “Police think that the picture Piers posted of us filming in London could have alerted burglars that I was away.

“But they must have been hungry, they took my two steaks out of the freezer.

“At least they were considerate enough to leave me some chicken.”

And he joked: “Piers, I’ll let you off on the gold watch, but you owe me two f***ing steaks.”

The Good Morning Britain presenter later gave Gascoigne a pile of steaks to make amends for his accidental tip-off, with the former footballer admitting he didn’t hold a grudge.

Piers Morgan slams "shameful" Arsenal over job cuts and redundancies

Piers Morgan has launched a stinging attack on Arsenal following the announcement that they will be making 55 staff redundant.

The Gunners released a statement on Wednesday confirming that they were being forced to cut costs in light of the coronavirus crisis, and a number of scouts and backroom staff are among those being let go.

The club have received heavy criticism since the news broke, with many supporters pointing out that their owner Stan Kroenke is worth an estimated £6.32bn and that their highest-earning players, such as Mesut Ozil, take home £350,000-a-week.

Morgan took to Twitter on Thursday morning to express his outrage at the decision.

Many fans have been angered by Arsenal’s decision

He said: ” Arsenal firing 55 staff when we’re owned by a multi-billionaire, have just made £££ by winning the FA Cup & qualifying for Europe, & pay Mesut Ozil £350,000-a-week to sit on his a***, is morally indefensible & not what I expect from a club with our heritage. Shameful decision.”

Arsenal’s senior players are said to want talks with the club’s hierarchy as they want to know why jobs are being slashed when the squad agreed to a 12.5percent pay cut – reduced to 7.5 percent following Europa League qualification – in April.

That action, the players believed, would lead to a situation where such a nightmare scenario would not arise.

Instead the Gunners are enduring backlash with legend Ian Wright another one warning the club that feelings are running high over the issue.

“Remember who you are, what you are and who you represent!!!” said a message from his account accompanied by three upset emojis.

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is worth billions

Some of the club’s players are understood to have made contact with those affected by the proposed cuts.

Transfer business will remain unaffected, however, with the club set to sign free agent Willian on £150,000-a-week on a three-year deal with the option of a fourth and a sizeable signing on fee – a deal Chelsea refused to give him as he turns 32 this weekend.

Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan snubs Sol Campbell in his all-time Gunners XI

Piers Morgan found no room for Arsenal great Sol Campbell as he named his all-time Gunners side, instead preferring a centre-back pairing of Tony Adams and Martin Keown.

Campbell is held in very high regard by Arsenal fans, not least for joining on a free deal from arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2001.

A formidable centre-half, the former England international went on to win the Premier League and the FA Cup twice apiece during his first five years under Arsene Wenger – before later returning during a brief spell in 2010.

He also formed a vital part of the ‘Invincibles’ team of 2003/04 and opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 2006 Champions League final against Barcelona.

Morgan snubbed Campbell from his XI in favour of Keown

Though Campbell also earned two PFA Team of the Year appearances in Arsenal colours, Morgan admits he “can’t bring himself” to include him in his all-time XI.

Explaining the reasoning behind his centre-back picks, the Good Morning Britain presenter told talkSPORT : “This is quite interesting, obviously you have Tony Adams, the guv’nor, my captain, indisputable.

“Alongside him, the next best centre-back for Arsenal fans who could hold their noses long enough would be Sol Campbell – and the glory of removing him from White Hart Lane, he should be in the team… but I can’t bring myself to do it!

“A mention in dispatches for Frank McKlintock, captain of the double-winning team, but I’ve gone for one who I absolutely loved as a player; he didn’t just give a 100 per cent, he gave one thousand per cent. If there was ever a fight needed starting, he would be in the thick of it – it’s Martin Keown.

“Steve Bould, sorry mate, you had a great shout too, but Keown for me was the absolute heartbeat of any team he played for.

“He was the warrior. He’d go over the top of the trenches. He gets the nod over Sol Campbell. Possibly not as good a player, but a greater Arsenal figure.”

Elsewhere, Morgan handed David Seaman the No1 jersey and the full-back slots to Lee Dixon and Ashley Cole.

In midfield, Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit were flanked by Robert Pires and Liam Brady, while the notorious strike duo of Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry rekindle their partnership.

Morgan also ensured that Ian Wright was given a spot on the bench and selected Arsene Wenger as his manager, taking care to stipulate that this was only on account of the Frenchman’s first eight years at Highbury.

Gary Lineker's epic Twitter rows with Piers Morgan as pair get personal

Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan are two of the biggest names in British TV presenting.

Former England captain Gary is the much-loved host of Match Of The Day on BBC One, while Piers fronts Good Morning Britain on ITV.

But it seems the two men’s rivalries are about a lot more than just which channel their flagship show is broadcast on – and they regularly take to social media to prove it.

On Friday ex-Leicester star Gary completely destroyed Piers in a Twitter row over the world’s greatest footballer.

To be fair, as one of the most successful players the UK has seen, Piers should really have bowed to Gary’s superior knowledge – but obviously, he didn’t.

It seems the duo disagree over who should wear the crown as the world’s best player, with Gary insisting it’s Lionel Messi while Piers thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is the better footballer.

But last Wednesday Gary explained to his followers his appreciation for Messi doesn’t mean to say he dismisses the brilliance of Ronaldo.

Tweeting about Ronaldo, although not in direct response to Piers, Morgan posted a video of the Portuguese scoring a screamer for Juve, also on Wednesday morning.

Alongside it he wrote: “BOOOM! This is why Ronaldo is the GOAT. Messi can’t do this.”

Spotting the tweet, Gary decided to respond: “Fabulous goal, breathtaking footballer, but you really should start watching football before making silly statements.”

Alongside his own tweet, he included a video compilation of Messi scoring stunners.

And this where things started to get a little heated when Piers hit back, this time directly at Lineker: “I’ve watched a lot of football and won as many League titles and International trophies as you. (You didn’t even win one at Barcelona!)”

Lineker then replied: “Again, factually incorrect. I won the old second division (Championship) with Leicester City.”

And just when we thought the row was over, Gary played a blinder by posting a screen-shot of an old Morgan tweet reading: “Messi’s the greatest footballer ever, and Ronaldo’s the second best. Any further debate is superfluous – I have spoken.”

Alongside it he added: “Hope Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know you have spoken, Piers Morgan.”

And Gary and Piers’ Twitter spats certainly aren’t confined the football.

In April, Gary couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Piers when US President Donald Trump unfollowed him on Twitter.

He said: “I know it’s probably too soon. I know you thought he was a friend. I know your heart is breaking. I know how hurt you feel now.

“I know hard this is for you, but I know you will get through it. I know you won’t want to hear this: but you know you’ll be a better man without him.”

Earlier this year the GMB host hit out at Gary after the sportsman defended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down from royal duties.

Gary tweeted: “Families fall out. It’s hard enough without the whole world judging & haranguing you. Yes, the Royal family is a weird concept.

“A strange job that brings absurd entitlement, but they’re still human beings with foibles and feelings.

“Meanwhile Australia is on fire and war threatens.”

Piers immediately responded with a made up headline claiming the MOTD presenter had branded the royal family “weird and absurd”, which left Gary with no choice but to respond.

He replied with: “The concept of having a Royal family, not the family itself. Twist it anyway you like, Tubs. Once a tabloid editor, always a tabloid editor.”

Piers went on to mock Gary’s supposed ambitions to be knighted, and the ex-Barcelona striker wrote: “I don’t have any knighthood ambitions. You’re obsession with these two people is most certainly weird.”

But football and the royals aren’t the only thing that see the two men publicly arguing.

In September last year Piers made a joke at Gary’s expense when the ex-footballer confessed he just wasn’t “that into sex”.

Piers tweeted: “Better than sex, Jugs?”

But Gary had the perfect come back and replied: “Scoring for England was always better. Anyone can have sex.”

And when it comes to politics, it’s fair to say that Piers and Gary definitely don’t see eye to eye.

The row kicked off last August when Gary slammed the government’s decision to extend the suspension of parliament into October – two weeks before the UK is set to leave the European Union.

Piers quipped: “Says the man who has howled for 3yrs that we should ignore the result of a democratic vote…”

Gary insisted he had never said the result of 2016’s EU referendum should be ignored.

He added: “We could though look at the crooked, lying nature of how it was sold to us back then by the elite now dictating (literally) and decide as a democratic country if that’s still what we want.”

And it was far from the end of the argument as Piers responded: “Mate, it doesn’t get more elite than you…as BBC licence fee payers know to our cost.”

Gary is one of the BBC’s highest paid presenters, picking up a £1.75million annual salary.

Gary fired back: “Mate, it doesn’t get much more elite than ostentatiously showing off your wealth (you constantly tell me you earn way more than me) with a deluge of pictures by marauding, around the Côte d’Azur on a yacht.”

But Piers STILL wasn’t done, adding: “I don’t pretend not to be in the elite… and it’s not my fault I earn far more than you, it’s my talent.”

Doesn’t look like these two will stop their Twitter rows any time soon.

Gary Lineker destroys Piers Morgan on Twitter with Cristiano Ronaldo tweet

Gary Lineker destroyed Piers Morgan on Twitter with a well-timed tweet about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Good Morning Britain host Morgan sat down with the Juventus superstar last year for a wide-ranging interview, in which he gushed over Ronaldo.

Morgan told the Portuguese he believes him to be the world’s best footballer in a bid to put the Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate to bed.

Anyone who follows Lineker on Twitter will know the Match of the Day host is a big fan of Messi.

But on Wednesday morning he explained to his followers that this doesn’t mean to say he dismisses the brilliance of Ronaldo.

Spotting the tweet, Lineker decided to respond: “Fabulous goal, breathtaking footballer, but you really should start watching football before making silly statements.”

Alongside his own tweet, he included a video compilation of Messi scoring stunners.

Not one to be outdone, Morgan hit back, this time directly at Lineker: “I’ve watched a lot of football and won as many League titles and International trophies as you. (You didn’t even win one at Barcelona!)”

Lineker then replied: “Again, factually incorrect. I won the old second division (Championship) with Leicester City.”

For a short while the discussion died down, but it seems Lineker was doing some digging – looking for something humorous to hit Morgan with. And he found.

Lineker posted a screen-shot of an old Morgan tweet reading: “Messi’s the greatest footballer ever, and Ronaldo’s the second best. Any further debate is superfluous – I have spoken.”

Alongside it he added: “Hope Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know you have spoken, Piers Morgan.” Awkward.

Piers Morgan leads condemnation of White Lives Matter banner at Man City

Piers Morgan has lead the condemnation of a plane flying the banner “White Lives Matter Burnley” over the Etihad.

The Good Morning Britain presenter took to Twitter to label the actions “depressing”.

The incident occurred early on in the match between Manchester City and Burnley, shortly after players from both teams took a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Piers tweeted: “Plane flew over the Etihad Stadium tonight with this banner saying ‘White Lives Matter Burnley’. So depressing.”

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker also hit out at the stunt, tweeting: “I’m sure Burnley will condemn this s***housery.” Burnley released a statement shortly after Lineker’s tweet, prompting him to add: “Ah they just have. Well played.”

Piers Morgan has lead the condemnation

The statement read: “Burnley Football Club strongly condemns the actions of those responsible for the aircraft and offensive banner that flew over The Etihad Stadium on Monday evening.

“We wish to make it clear that those responsible are not welcome at Turf Moor.

“This, in no way, represents what Burnley Football Club stands for and we will work fully with the authorities to identify those responsible and take appropriate action.

“The club has a proud record of working with all genders, religions and faiths through its award-winning Community scheme, and stands against racism of any kind.

“We are fully behind the Premier League’s Black Lives Matter initiative and, in line with all other Premier League games undertaken since Project Restart, our players and football staff willingly took the knee at kick-off at Manchester City.

“We apologise unreservedly to the Premier League, to Manchester City and to all those helping to promote Black Lives Matter.”
