Health Secretary Matt Hancock has given an update on the tiered system across England today, revealing dozens more areas will now be entering Tier 4. This follows a rise in Covid cases following a mutated strain of the virus, which is more transmissible than the original.
Are gyms and swimming pools open in Tier 4?
Unfortunately for those looking to go swimming or visit the gym, indoor venues are forced to close under Tier 4.
The Government website states businesses which must close include: “Leisure and sports facilities such as leisure centres and indoor gyms, indoor swimming pools, indoor sports courts, indoor fitness and dance studios, indoor riding centres, and indoor climbing walls”.
However, venues can remain open for elite sports persons to train and compete (in indoor and outdoor sports facilities), and professional dancers and choreographers to work (in fitness and dance studios).
