THE Johnson & Johnson vaccine has caused quite some controversy since its rollout to treat coronavirus.
The single-shot vaccine faced massive recalls in April 2021 after six women in the US developed a rare blood-clotting disorder.

What happened to 60million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine?
60million doses of Johnson & Johnson were discarded, as per demands from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The discarded shots were made at a facility in Baltimore where there were several violations.
The issues left an additional 15million doses of the vaccine ruined due to an ingredient mix-up.
People familiar with the situation told The New York Times that the shots were thrown out due to potential contamination.

The facility was shuttered after an FDA inspection uncovered unsanitary conditions and other problems in April.
Did Johnson and Johnson send more vaccines?
On June 11, 2021, the agency released 10million doses for use after extensive review, according to a statement.
The 10million doses were sent to other countries, but the company made it clear that there was no guarantee they were made under good manufacturing practices.
The huge clear-out came just one day after they extended the expiration date on millions of vaccine doses by six weeks.
Still, the FDA has not yet authorized the facility to continue manufacturing the single-shot vaccine.

Peter Marks, director of the agency’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research told the Washington Post about the review of the doses, saying: “These actions followed an extensive review of records, including the production history of the facility and the testing performed to evaluate the quality of the product.
“This review has been taking place while Emergent BioSolutions prepares to resume manufacturing operations with corrective actions to ensure compliance with the FDA’s current good manufacturing practice requirements.”
What are the Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine side effects?
Around 55 percent of people who were vaccinated experienced systemic side effects.
The most commonly reported side effects were headaches, fatigue and muscle pain.
Less common symptoms were nausea and fever, which lasted for just one day on average.
Typically, the side effects of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are similar to those who had one of the mRNA (Moderna) vaccines.
Although, a 74-year-old man was hospitalized with a severe body rash triggered by the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
